About Taryn Fiebig
Taryn Fiebig began learning piano at the age of nine in Perth, Western Australia. After being awarded a music scholarship at high school, she began learning cello. This led to a music degree with a major in cello performance at the University of Western Australia. Taryn has played principal cello in the Australian Youth Orchestra, touring nationally, then to Japan and New Zealand. Further orchestral experience has included playing in musicals and in the Vienna Pops New Year concerts in Perth.
Although playing the cello has continued to be an important part of her career Taryn also loves to sing. As a solo soprano she has worked with all major choirs in Perth, and has been a soloist with the Sydney based Brandenburg Ensemble. Taryn is often called upon to combine her cello playing and singing with acting. She has been a part of recordings and performances in Perth with contemporary group Magnetic Pig, the Black Swan Theatre Company and Spare Parts Puppet Theatre. Taryn toured with Spare Parts, to Japan, where she performed her role in Japanese. In 1999, Taryn was awarded a Churchill Fellowship and a research grant from the Arts Council of Western Australia, for further vocal training in London with Evelyn Tubb (early music) and Jane Manning (contemporary music).
